Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the surgeon and healthcare team to perform safe operations with optimal patient outcomes in the main operating room
Practice perioperative nursing in the RNFA role, applying specialized knowledge, skill, and judgment specific to clinical practice in the operating room
Assist in robotic surgical procedures including robotic urology, GYN, colorectal, surgical oncology, thoracic, and general surgery cases using the da Vinci robotic system
Perform duties of OR staff RN, including scrubbing and circulating, when not assigned in the RNFA role
Fulfill on-call responsibilities per unit need (until 11pm only) and rotating holiday requirements as needed
Required Qualifications
Active New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license — NY license required
Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program through a college or university
CNOR certification required
Da Vinci robotic surgery experience required
BLS certification through American Heart Association required
Proficiency in perioperative nursing practice including scrubbing and circulating
Preferred Experience / Skills
Minimum two (2) years of operating room experience, preferably in a Level 1 trauma center
ACLS certification through American Heart Association preferred
Experience across multiple robotic surgical specialties including oncology procedures such as Whipple, gastrectomy, and hernia repair
