Job Title: Registered Nurse First Assistant Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: RNFA Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours (06:45 - 17:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Must have a valid RN license Certifications: BLS and CNOR certification required Must-Have: - Experience with general surgery, GYN, ENT, plastics, urology, orthopedic sports medicine, ortho hand, podiatry, and bronchoscopy - Ability to work one weeknight on-call and every 6th weekend Description: This position is for an RNFA in the operating room. The average daily census is around 15 patients. There are 4 operating rooms and 4 beds available. Staffing ratios are 1:1. The RNFA will be responsible for various surgical procedures including but not limited to abdominal hysterectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and robotic surgeries. Special equipment used includes the DaVinci XI surgical system. The RNFA will assist in securing drainage systems, sterilization and disinfection, and performing wound dressing. The RNFA may float within service line requirements as needed. Weekend on-call duty is required every 6th weekend, from 17:15 Friday to 06:45 Monday. This position is not open to local candidates within a 75-mile radius. The RNFA must be able to adapt to varying day off schedules during the week. Additional patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, social services, and rapid response teams. Daily procedures involve a range of specialties such as orthopedics, gynecology, and general surgeries.
