The organization comprises a 122-bed acute care facility providing exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. Local residents enjoy weekly farmers markets, farm-to-fork dining, and beautiful landscapes for hiking and biking. Beach days are just a short distance away. The RNFA performs the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. They coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. The RNFA is responsible for meeting established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the health care team. Under the direction of the primary operating surgeon, the RNFA assists in the perioperative care of patients undergoing surgery. This role functions within established policies and guidelines and reports directly to the Director of Perioperative Services. The RNFA exemplifies leadership and professionalism in the implementation of their role. Essential functions include assuring patients' personal needs are met, participating in the Standards of Conduct, and maintaining patient privacy. Documentation must be clear, concise, and legible. The RNFA completes all assigned quality monitors as directed by the department manager and follows infection control guidelines. They obtain history and physical assessments according to nursing protocols for all age groups. The RNFA reviews medical history and identifies abnormal diagnostic data, and must recognize signs of cardiac or respiratory distress or other emergencies. They demonstrate knowledge and ability to function effectively in emergency situations. The RNFA accurately administers and charts medications following hospital policies. They assess patients' educational needs and assist in implementing planned education. Intraoperative competencies, such as manual dexterity, suturing, and providing hemostasis, are demonstrated. The RNFA assists in developing and educating new staff members and participates in staff meetings. They complete education and competencies for department-specific skills and adapt to changes in the work environment. The RNFA ensures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilization of department resources appropriately and minimizing overtime are essential aspects of this role. Other job-related duties may be assigned.
