Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) for an inpatient psychiatric hospital in New Baltimore, Michigan. This leadership role supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and effective staff management within a behavioral health setting.
This role requires strong clinical leadership, psychiatric nursing experience, and the ability to manage nursing teams in a fast-paced inpatient environment focused on patient safety and quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Director of Nursing in daily nursing operations and clinical oversight
Supervise nursing staff to ensure high-quality psychiatric patient care
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations
Assist with staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning
Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
Respond to patient complaints and support resolution of care concerns
Oversee documentation standards and regulatory compliance
Participate in budget and resource management activities
Lead or assist in crisis intervention and incident investigations
Support development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures
Provide direct patient care when necessary
Serve on facility committees as required
Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
Bachelor s degree in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred
Minimum 5+ years of RN experience preferred
At least 2 years of RN experience required
Minimum 1 year of progressive leadership or management experience required
Inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience required
Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing and patient safety practices
Experience in nursing leadership within inpatient or acute care settings preferred
Ability to manage teams in a regulated healthcare environment
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
