Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join a leading inpatient psychiatric facility in New Baltimore, Michigan.
This leadership role works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to oversee nursing operations, ensure high-quality patient care, and support clinical staff in delivering safe and effective behavioral health services.
The ADON plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, improving patient outcomes, and supporting staff development in a fast-paced psychiatric care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the DON/CNO in managing daily nursing operations and clinical services
Oversee nursing staff to ensure quality patient care and regulatory compliance
Support staffing coordination and resource allocation
Monitor patient care standards and address service gaps or complaints
Provide leadership, training, and performance management for nursing staff
Assist with budgeting and operational efficiency initiatives
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations
Participate in policy development and implementation
Respond to incidents and support crisis intervention
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting standards
Provide direct patient care when required
Requirements
Active RN license in the state of Michigan
Minimum 2 years RN experience required
Minimum 1 year leadership or management experience required
At least 1 year of experience in behavioral health / psychiatric / addiction setting required
Prior inpatient psychiatric RN experience required
5+ years RN experience preferred
Previous nursing leadership experience strongly preferred
Bachelor s degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred
Experience in a unionized hospital environment highly preferred
Certifications
CPR certification (required)
De-escalation/restraint certification (required training provided)
First Aid (as required by facility/state)
