RNs provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities. This is achieved through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program and organization. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Assesses the care needs of persons served. Develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Continually reassesses the plan of care according to the care needs of persons served. In collaboration with the physician, provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups of persons served. Assists in teaching families and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates families and significant others regarding discharge and aftercare planning needs. Provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings. Documents, reports, and verifies all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors and reports to the physician any potential risk to the safety of persons served that could lead to an adverse outcome. Creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards. Maintains professionalism and initiates positive relationships with coworkers and external customers. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Identifies specific needs of persons served and implements compassionate, person-centered care. Functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments while promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Gives input into processes for improvement. Utilizes and promotes careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff. May be indirectly responsible for oversight of medication and physical health activities in a program. May be responsible for scheduling and staffing. Responsible for role modeling the mission and values of the organization. Presents a professional image in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In the community residential setting, supports a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach. Demonstrates the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care. Upholds the organization's mission through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and professional excellence. Maintains annual training and demonstrates competency in required programmatic training. Performs other duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
