RNs provide direction and oversight to licensed and non-licensed staff. RNs demonstrate compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities. They are committed to integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must exhibit excellent customer service and enthusiasm for the program. Responsibilities include assessing the care needs of individuals served and developing a plan of care. This plan is created in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, with continual reassessment according to the individual’s needs. In collaboration with the physician, the RN provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups. They assist in educating individuals and their families while providing milieu management. Effective communication with individuals and their families regarding discharge and aftercare planning is essential. The RN must ensure a safe and secure environment for both individuals served and staff. Responsibilities also include documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information in accordance with established policies. They monitor for and report any potential risks to individuals' safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. A customer/client-friendly environment is created by following quality improvement standards. Maintaining professionalism and initiating positive relationships with coworkers and external customers is vital. The RN provides care in diverse clinical settings and identifies specific individual needs. They implement person-centered, compassionate care while functioning as a clinical leader. Additional responsibilities include the utilization and review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. RNs may be involved in training direct care staff and may oversee medication and physical health activities. They might also be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining necessary pre-authorizations. The RN serves as a role model for the organization’s mission and values. They should present a professional image in appearance, attitude, behavior, time management, and communication skills. Providing spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients is critical. In a community residential setting, the RN supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment. Commitment to a healing ministry is essential and should reflect integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and inclusion. Maintaining annual training and demonstrating competency in required training programs is necessary. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
