Key Responsibilities of the Children's Psychiatric RN:
  • Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to children and adolescents with acute and chronic behavioral health needs
  • Conduct assessments, monitor symptoms, and manage medication administration
  • Implement therapeutic interventions and crisis-prevention strategies tailored to pediatric patients
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, families, and support staff
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment aligned with trauma-informed and age-appropriate care principles
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the EMR

Requirements of the Children's Psychiatric RN:
  • Active Kentucky RN license (or ability to obtain before start)
  • BLS required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient pediatric psychiatric or behavioral health experience
  • Strong de-escalation, communication, and pediatric assessment skills
  • Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents experiencing mental health crises
