Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and enthusiasm for the program and organization. Assesses the care needs of persons served and develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Continually reassesses the plan of care according to persons served care needs. Collaborates with the physician to provide and coordinate nursing care to individuals and groups. Assists in teaching persons served and families and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates persons served and families/significant others in discharge and aftercare planning needs. Provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings. Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors for and reports to the physician any potential risks to persons served safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. Creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with departments, coworkers, and external customers. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Identifies specific needs of persons served and implements person-centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader by delegating and coordinating staff assignments while promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Gives input into processes for improvement and promotes careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff. May indirectly oversee medication and physical health activities. May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations. Models the mission and values of the organization through professionalism in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In community residential settings, supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach. Demonstrates commitment to the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care. Upholds the healing ministry through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Maintains annual training and demonstrates competency in required programmatic training. Performs other duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
