Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
• Perform detailed mental health and physical assessments upon admission and throughout treatment
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Administer medications, monitor therapeutic responses, and assess for side effects or adverse reactions
• Conduct suicide risk assessments and implement appropriate safety interventions
• Monitor patient behavior and respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies or escalating situations
• Facilitate therapeutic communication and provide emotional support to patients and families
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Promote a safe therapeutic environment while following behavioral health protocols and infection prevention standards
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, coping strategies, and discharge planning

Requirements

• Active Utah Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact RN License
• Minimum 2 years of recent Psychiatric or Behavioral Health nursing experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• ACLS Certification preferred
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent de-escalation training preferred
• Strong understanding of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention, and behavioral health treatment
• Excellent assessment, communication, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills
• Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
• Ability to remain calm and professional during high-stress situations
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered behavioral healthcare
