Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: - Crisis Intervention skills - Knowledge of psychotropic medications - Ability to assess patients' mental health status - Therapeutic Communication skills Description: Active Blue Card CPI is required. The unit has a total of 99 beds distributed among different subsets catering to specific patient demographics. Patient ratios are 8 nurses to 1 patient and Mental Health Technicians are in a 12:1 ratio. You will be expected to assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders and behavioral problems, by taking thorough patient histories and observing behavior. Develop individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues, including setting goals and evaluating outcomes. Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions. Provide immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis, using de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management. Build trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills and active listening. Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and mental status changes. Dress code includes required uniforms: nurses wear blue while Mental Health Technicians wear green or black. Follow established guidelines and policies of the unit.
