Job Title: RN - Psych Profession: RN Specialty: Psych Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Psych nursing License: Required Licensure Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: - Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care - Strong interpersonal and de-escalation communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively - Solid written and oral communication skills - Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels - Experience with physical restraints and medication passes - Comfort with running groups (not required) - Documentation skills Description: RN - Psych position in an Adult Behavioral Health setting. The facility has 885 licensed beds and a Level 1 Trauma designation. It operates as a teaching hospital and has designations including Chest Pain and Stroke Center. The unit houses 24 beds with a daily census of 18-20 patients. Patients are adults 18 years and older with diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and suicidal ideation. The patient-to-RN ratio is 1:6. CNA and Mental Health Technician support are available on the unit. Responsibilities include providing patient care directed by an RN according to the treatment team’s plan. You will develop therapeutic relationships with patients and their family members through participation in treatment programs. Additional duties include working alongside a receptionist and charge nurse, and performing phlebotomy as needed. The unit is equipped with a seclusion room, restraint bed, and restraint chair. The EMR system used is Encompass/Epico. Shift times are from 0630 to 1900 with a scheduling cycle of 6 weeks. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Scrub color is royal blue, and free employee parking is available. The unit culture emphasizes patient-centered care, dependability, and strong teamwork.
