Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care / Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour PM-AM Hours per Shift: 19:00-07:00 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience License: RN License or Compact License (Proof of State Residency Required) Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Must have a minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience in a progressive care or step-down setting. Description: Candidates will work with patients receiving step-down level of care for cardiology, electrophysiology, and cardiac surgical procedures. Patient populations may include post-operative cardiothoracic surgical patients, patients with congestive heart failure, telemetry, vascular conditions, and pulmonary hypertension. Telemetry monitoring is a key component of care. Patient ratios on day shifts are 1:3 and on night shifts are 1:4-5, depending on patient acuity. Candidates should be proficient in managing chest tubes, IV drips, and post-surgical lines, tubes, and drains. Experience with telemetry, complex wound care, central line maintenance, and blood draws is essential. The role requires hemodynamic monitoring and experience with invasive blood pressure monitoring. Candidates should be familiar with administering medication drips, including nitroglycerin, dobutamine, and vasoactive medications. Knowledge of Bi-PAP and C-PAP management is also required. Experience with external pacemakers and epicardial wires is preferred. Strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment are necessary for success in this position.
