Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a large, urban hospital License: Active RN License required Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred, CCRN preferred Must-Have: - Must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs. - 100% nicotine-free facility. - RTO (Requests for Time Off) restrictions: Up to two weeks allowed, must be submitted with the application. - Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. - Submit all requests regarding RTO with the application. Description: The traveler will provide care to patients requiring a level of care between intensive care units and progressive care units. Collaboration with the nursing staff is essential to provide extraordinary care to each patient and their family. Safety is the priority for all patients in the unit. Patient demographics include traumas, surgical patients, transplant cases, lung disorders, and patients on ventilation. Patient ratios are typically 1:3-4 on day and night shifts. Experience with drip management and EPIC charting is required. First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have experience at a Level 1 Academic Medical Center. Travelers will float within their scope to meet facility needs. The team will consist of CNAs, care teams including care techs, and transport teams. Preferred skills include managing arterial lines, BiPAP/CPAP, blood product administration, telemetry, and care of ventilated patients. Experience with interpreting dysrhythmias and isolation precautions is also required. Experience in working with diverse patient populations, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics is essential. Scheduling will require working four weekend shifts out of eight possible shifts in a four-week period. Must provide all documentation as required by the facility’s compliance guidelines.
