Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1.5 years License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS BLS NIH PALS (preferred) TNCC (preferred) Must-Have: EPIC experience Experience with stable chronic ventilators Ability to pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment IV Start preferred Description: Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, but they can be up to 1:5-6. The contract may require 36 or 48 hours per week. For a 48-hour contract, overtime is paid out after 48 hours. Nurses will be fitted for N95 before working on specialized units unless a protective air purifying respirator is offered or needed. Experience in a level 1 or 2 trauma setting is preferred. Travel experience is preferred. Travelers will be the first to float at management's discretion. Agency staff may float in and out of specialty clusters as needed. Assignments may include floating to various campuses within a reasonable distance. Travelers must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Cancellations may occur due to low census, with appropriate notice provided. Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives. Requests for time off must be included with initial submission and cannot be added after the offer. Approval of time off is at the discretion of management. Module hours related to orientation may be required. Lab work and competency exams must be completed within a specified timeline. Nurses will care for a diverse patient population, including those with significant health challenges. The unit is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring nurses to provide assistance with patient mobility and care. Various interdisciplinary support services are available for nurses on this unit. Skills required include management of ventilated patients, arterial line management, and administration of blood products, among others. The unit cares for patients with multi-system problems, requiring a broad skill set. The patient population includes individuals requiring intensive rehabilitation and acute care needs.
