Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Float/Med Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: Float/Med Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 24 months of experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Telemetry or Med/Surg/Telemetry required. License: Active Iowa/IA license or compact/Multistate license Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support, AHA) NIH Stroke Scale certificate (preferred) De-Escalation Certificate (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, CPI - preferred) Must-Have: Experience, comfort, and proficiency with drips: heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltizem, digoxin Ability to confidently read EKG/ECG including all Tele-related duties and responsibilities EPIC EMR experience Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager within the last 24 months Description: The role requires a Registered Nurse to float across various units based on needs. Floating assignments may include Med Surg, Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and some post-procedural areas. The primary care focus will be Med Surg, with staffing based on census needs. A passing score of 80% on the Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment is required during onboarding. This position involves working 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed. Candidates may not currently be employed as a float nurse in another market nor have worked in travel roles within the last 12 months. First-time travelers are accepted with at least 2 years of nursing experience, with hospital experience prioritized. Experience with tele reads and administering drips is essential. Candidates must possess the ability to read rhythm strips and interpret dysrhythmias accurately.
