Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Float/Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 24 months of current experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Tele roles is required. First-time travelers are accepted with at least 2 years of nursing experience, with priority given to candidates with hospital experience. License: Active Iowa license or compact/multistate license is required. Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - NIH Stroke Scale certificate is preferred but can be obtained during onboarding. - De-Escalation Certificate (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, CPI) is preferred but can be obtained during onboarding. Must-Have: - Proficiency and comfort with administering drips such as heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltizem, and digoxin. - Ability to confidently read EKG/ECG and perform all telemetry-related duties, including rhythm strips and dysrhythmia reads. - EPIC electronic medical record experience is required. - Candidates must complete a Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a passing score of 80% during onboarding. - Candidates must float across various units as needed, including Med Surg, Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and post-procedural areas. Description: This position involves quickly interviewing viable candidates. The role requires working 4 nights per week for 12-hour shifts, totaling 48 hours. There is a holiday rotation requirement, and the contractor is expected to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is adequately staffed. The nurse will be assigned to units based on census and staffing needs, as there is no designated home unit.
