Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Must be in hand prior to start date. Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Proficient in cardiac monitoring - Management of chest tubes - Experience with fresh tracheostomies - Feeding tube care and management - Care of post-operative patients - Experience with epidurals - Management of non-titratable cardiac drips - IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips - External BiPAP/CPAP - Total laryngectomy - Doppler flap checks Description: First-time travelers are accepted. Locals are not accepted. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend per their contract. Consecutive weekends may be required based on operational needs. Unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. Nurses are expected to float to different levels of care with resources provided as needed. Refusal to float may result in contract termination. Staffing ratios are 1:3-4. The unit has an almost ICU level acuity with a focus on specific surgical diagnoses. Travelers must agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow while on assignment. Candidates must have experience in arterial and central line management, fresh tracheostomy and laryngectomy care, and multiple types of surgical drains. Care for inpatient post-operative patients is required, as well as experience with enteral feedings. Floating between hospitals may be required. Two supervisor references are required.
