Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1.5-2 years of nursing experience with 1 year in Med/Surg/Tele and 2 years in Step Down License: Required RN License Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: - IV start - Telemetry - Ability to read strips Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Step Down/Immediate Care Unit. The position involves working three 12-hour night shifts or four 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, with weekdays and some weekends included. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:4, but may flex to 1:5 in emergencies. Holiday requests for time off should be limited to no more than two of the four major holidays. Candidates should have a minimum of 1.5 to 2 years of nursing experience, with at least one year in Med/Surg/Telemetry and two years of experience in Step Down. Nurses must be proficient in starting IVs and have experience with telemetry. The unit manages a variety of patients, with an emphasis on cardiac care, including patients who would be in Progressive Care or Telemetry in larger facilities. The acuity level of patients may vary. Required skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry. Nurses are expected to manage dysrhythmias, administer oxygen, and provide care for tracheostomy patients. Wound care and preparation for various procedures are also part of the responsibilities.
