Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification Must-Have: Strong assessment skills; adaptability to a fast-paced work environment Description: The stepdown unit consists of 24 spacious, private rooms equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring capabilities. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, with assistance from clinical associates. This unit caters to a medical/surgical/trauma population. It plays a crucial role in providing care for patients diagnosed with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic fractures. Complex trauma patients are also a focus of this unit. The unit specializes in managing respiratory-compromised patients, including Bipap management and tracheostomies. Advanced diabetic management for both type 1 and type 2 patients is a priority. Additionally, care is provided for patients undergoing general surgical interventions and complex wound management. The unit facilitates 24-hour hemodynamic monitoring for patients requiring a higher level of care. It features rooms equipped with in-ceiling lifts to promote early patient mobilization. There are exceptional learning opportunities available for both seasoned nurses and new graduate nurses to enhance their skill set. Common diagnoses include trauma and general medical/surgical cases. RNs on this unit will need to interpret basic EKG readings, as all beds are monitored. Charge nurses are present on the unit, supported by house supervisors available 24/7. This role involves floating within the unit on a rotational basis with other staff members. The dress code consists of royal blue scrubs. Weekend and holiday shifts are required on a rotational basis.
