Job Title: Progressive Care Unit RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: BSN not required Description: 24-bed unit with a 1:3/4 ratio depending on acuity. Patient population includes dysrhythmias, cardiopulmonary issues, sepsis, high flow oxygen needs, and behavior patients requiring IV drip medications. An educator works closely with staff on the unit. Types of medication drips include dopamine, levophed, cardizem, heparin, precedex, nitro, amiodarone, dobutamine, and nicardipine. There may be a need to work every other weekend. Throughput is high, as expected in all stepdown units. Cancellation policy allows for 3 shifts per 13-week contract or 2 shifts per 12-week contract. Charting system used is EPIC. Trauma level is 2. Care setting is acute.
