Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience required. License: Valid RN License or Compact License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Experience with MedSurg care including chest tubes, IV drips such as diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone. - Knowledge of telemetry, complex wounds, and central lines care and maintenance. - Competence in hemodynamic monitoring and invasive BP monitoring through arterial lines. - Proficiency in administering vasoactive medications, Bi-PAP, and C-PAP. Description: This position involves providing care in a step-down level of care for cardiology and cardiac surgical patients. The unit typically accommodates 48 beds. Responsibilities include caring for cardiothoracic surgical patients, pre and post-operative CHF, telemetry, vascular patients, and those with pulmonary hypertension. Patient ratios are 1:3 during day shifts and 1:4-5 during night shifts, depending on acuity. Nurses are required to manage complex care tasks including external pacers, epicardial wires, and traction management. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills are essential for this role. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
