Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU/Med Surg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, ONS/ONCC Must-Have: - Chemo certification required - Ability to pass an open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% - Willingness to adhere to fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails - Experience in oncology and PCU preferred Description: The position involves providing nursing care in a mixed unit setting. The unit primarily serves patients with oncology and trauma diagnoses. Nurses will manage a patient ratio of 1:4 in PCU and 1:5 in med/surg during day shifts, and 1:5-6 during night shifts. Expect to encounter common drips and medications including chemotherapy, heparin, and cardizem. Familiarity with titration of drips, specifically insulin and cardizem, is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are mandatory. Support staff available includes nursing assistants, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, educators, and dieticians. Travelers may float within the same level of care unit. Prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong teamwork and a genuine desire to care for patients. Cultural diversity and respect for patients of all backgrounds are important values on this unit. Nurses will assist patients from diagnosis to remission or, if necessary, facilitate a peaceful transition. Flexibility regarding patient care and a positive attitude are essential qualities for success in this role. Hourly rounding to enhance patient experience is a focus of the unit. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Candidates should be prepared for diverse responsibilities in a challenging and rewarding environment.
