Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU/Med Surg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required, with a preference for candidates that have oncology and PCU experience. License: Valid RN License required for submission. Certifications: ACLS, BLS required. Chemo certification preferred but not required. Must-Have: - Candidates must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation, achieving a score of 90% or higher. - Candidates must comply with the fingernail policy; artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas. - Candidates must have the ability to titrate drips, occasionally for insulin and Cardizem. Description: This position is for Registered Nurses in a step-down unit specializing in PCU, Med Surg, and Oncology care. The unit typically accommodates patients with oncology and trauma diagnoses. Common patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:4 for PCU and 1:5 for Med Surg. On night shifts, RN ratios may be 1:5 to 6 patients. Experience in oncology is preferred, but PCU experience is acceptable. RNs will be required to administer and titrate medications, including chemotherapy, heparin, and Cardizem. Teamwork and adaptability are essential, as travelers may float between PCU and Med Surg units. Candidates should be prepared for a diverse patient population and cultural backgrounds.
