Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 or 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large urban hospital License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; NIH, CPI preferred Must-Have: 2 years of prior experience required, must have 2 years of experience in a large, urban hospital. Drips are required on all floors. EPIC charting experience required. No first-time travelers accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center. Travelers must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs. Description: The unit is a 36-bed facility providing medical-surgical, telemetry, and progressive care to adult pre and post-transplant patients. Adolescent patients starting at the age of 15 are cared for by core staff only. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, with rare instances where night ratios can be 1:7 due to staffing. Travelers must work 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period. Two major holidays must be worked per contract. 100% nicotine-free environment. Medical-surgical nursing units permit up to two weeks of requested time off. Mandatory attendance to a charting class during the first week is required. RNs are required to wear specific scrubs with identification. Facility provides overhead lift equipment in every patient room. Interdisciplinary support includes various health care professionals for patient care. Frequent interventions include management of complex drips such as Nitro, Heparin, and Insulin. Required skills include managing IVs, telemetry monitoring, wound care, and tracheostomy management.
