Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac/vascular experience Description: Unit is known for providing excellent and quality care to patients in a thriving teamwork atmosphere. 32 beds are available, with all private rooms. The stepdown ratio is 1 RN to 3 patients, and the floor ratio is 1 RN to 6 patients. Common diagnoses include cardiac surgery post-op patients, including CABG, mid cabs, maze, valve replacements, tendyne, mitral clip, LVAD, heart transplants, and TAVRs. Other common surgeries include vascular surgery post-op/procedures such as AAA repair, CEA, femoral bypass, angiograms, and amputations. Cardiology cases include STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, watchman procedures, and cardiac cath procedures such as PTCA, stents, ICDs, ablations, and pacemakers. RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and dobutamine. Clinical associates are present on the unit with a goal of 4-5 associates available 24/7 for every 8-10 patients. The unit is equipped with Cpap, Bipap, and high-flow respiratory equipment. Monitor technicians interpret all cardiac strips, and RNs also read strips. Floating to sister units within the heart and vascular specialty may be required. Solid royal blue and white is the dress code for this unit. Unit-specific orientation includes 2-3 shifts of training.
