Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: PCU/IMC Float Pool - Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 years of PCU/IMC experience. Prefer prior neuro experience. Prefer experience with Epic. Must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin. Description: Candidates will be expected to float throughout the zone they are hired into. Each zone covers a 60-mile radius from the city center. The traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes this feasible. Week of orientation requires clinicians to be in the state. Scheduled shifts may be at a single facility or assigned just-in-time via call. Common diagnoses include adults and geriatrics with conditions such as cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, and renal issues. A nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 is expected, depending on acuity. Designated charge nurses will be present in each unit but may have a small patient assignment as needed. Shifts are made by leadership for 6 weeks at a time. Travelers are expected to help fill gaps in permanent scheduling. Weekend shift requirements range from 6 to 9 shifts in a 6-week schedule. Travelers may be asked to participate in holiday rotation. Units may include various acuity levels. Scrub color and dress code are flexible, allowing any color. Unit-specific orientation will include 1-2 days with a preceptor. Charting will be done using an electronic system. Cancellation policies allow for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during the assignment.
