Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Description: Department: PCU. Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. RN's must pass an exam during orientation with a required passing score of 90%. Driver's license required for verification of residency. Number of beds on the unit: 35. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:4-5. Common diagnoses include adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications. There is a charge nurse on each shift, and they take an assignment. Nurse aides or patient care technicians are available with ratios of 1:10 or 2:20. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Holiday requirements include every third holiday. There is no on-call or standby requirement. Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab is required. The first week comprises onboarding, followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation. This is a fast-paced floor. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include a positive attitude, willingness to help others, good communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to solve problems. RTO (request time off) must be submitted upfront, with a limit of 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting system used is EPIC. BSN is not required. Trauma Level: 2. Care Setting: Acute. Division: Nursing. Shift notes: 12-hour nights required. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
