Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to work with diverse patient populations and collaborate effectively in a team environment Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a stepdown unit. The home department involves caring for adult patients with mixed medical/surgical issues, including cardiac and stroke-related diagnoses. RNs will be expected to titrate drips, including but not limited to heparin, octreotide, and insulin. A charge nurse will be present on each shift and will also take an assignment. Patient care techs will assist, with a ratio of 1 tech for every 14 patients. Specialty equipment available includes code carts, LUCAS machines, hoyer lifts, and sit-to-stand devices. Tele/monitor techs are available to support RNs, who will need to read and interpret telemetry. Weekend shifts will comprise six shifts within a six-week scheduling period. Holiday shifts will rotate among permanent staff members. Floating to Med/Surg and other areas within the facility will be required based on patient care needs. Scrub color is navy blue. The unit experiences high patient flow with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges. Candidates should be positive team players willing to face challenges collaboratively. No artificial nails are permitted for individuals providing patient care. RTO requests should be minimal. Cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled as specified. Charting will be conducted using the EPIC system.
