Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: - BLS - ACLS - NIHSS Must-Have: - 1 year of experience with the patient population Description: Department primarily provides care for intermediate and downgraded patients. The unit supports a variety of cardiac and vascular diagnoses. Patient care includes those recovering from surgery, cardiology issues, and structural heart procedures. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4, with a ratio of 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours. Nurses will be required to titrate medications. Common titratable medications include amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and diltiazem. Charge nurses are present on each shift, though they rarely take on patient assignments. There are patient care assistants available on the unit, with a ratio of 1:18. Clientist and intensivist staff are available 24/7, along with cardiology on-call support. The respiratory therapy team is also present 24/7 in the unit. Remote techs monitor telemetry, and nurses must be capable of reading and interpreting patient strips. Shifts are generally from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700, with scheduling managed by the unit manager. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Floating to the same level or lower acuity units may be required. Navy blue scrubs are the standard dress code. RTO needs are required upfront, and additional requests will not be approved after initial submission. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as necessary.
