Responsibilities for RN-PCU
At Confluence Health, the PCU RN responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process
- Monitoring telemetry/step-down patients
- Administering medications and treatments
- Performing ongoing patient assessments
- Developing and updating individualized care plans
- Monitoring patient progress and discharge readiness
- Educating patients and families
- Accurate EMR documentation
- Delegating tasks to CNAs/support staff
- Collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams
- Maintaining patient safety and infection-control standards
- Floating to other units when required
- Working occasionally as a patient sitter if census changes
