Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year (Preferred 2 years) License: Active license required prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Proficient in reading, identifying, and reacting to cardiac rhythms - Experience in telemetry and cardiac/stroke care - Experience with cardiac drips, including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix Description: This position requires a registered nurse for a step-down cardiac unit. Nurses must pass a cardiac rhythm identification quiz. Understanding cardiac rhythms is critical for patient safety. The shift is nights from 1900 to 0730. Every other weekend and holiday work is required. Patient ratios are 1:4 during the day shift. The unit has a high acuity and is very busy. Adult and geriatric patients are the primary demographics. The unit supports a variety of diagnoses, including telemetry, stroke, and congestive heart failure. Nurses will manage acute conditions such as chest pain, myocardial infarction, syncope, hypertension, and overdoses. All modes of oxygenation are managed on the unit. The facility provides interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, pharmacy, and respiratory services. A rescue nurse is available for bedside procedures, excluding certain invasive procedures. Strong communication skills and professionalism are essential for this role. Travelers are expected to comply with all conduct standards to maintain placement.
