Job Title: Stepdown Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong clinical skills in a fast-paced environment Ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team Positive attitude and patient-oriented approach Description: The Stepdown Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care. This role involves monitoring and assessing patients and administering medications and treatments. RNs will be expected to manage patient loads efficiently, typically with a ratio of 1 nurse to 4 patients. Experience with common diagnoses such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke is essential. The position requires the ability to titrate IV drips, including medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin. Each shift will have a charge nurse who does take a full patient assignment. Nursing assistants or patient care technicians will be available to assist, with a typical ratio of 1 tech to 10 patients. RNs are required to interpret telemetry strips and will use designated telemetry equipment. This role may involve floating to critical care units if the RN has appropriate experience. Weekend and holiday work will be required on a rotating basis. Candidates should possess a commitment to teamwork and patient-centered care. Additional time off requests need to be communicated upfront, as further requests may not be approved.
