Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Float Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years Experience Required License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous Charge and Teaching Hospital Experience preferred. - First-timers accepted. - 8 weekend shifts required in a 6-week schedule period. Description: Registered Nurse position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The shift will be 13 weeks, 3 shifts per week, nights. The patient ratio is 1:5. Candidates must have 2 years of experience. Charge experience is preferred. The role involves providing care in various settings: Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, Emergency, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU. Key responsibilities include: Cardiac monitoring and emergency response. Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Telemetry monitoring both on the unit and remotely. Use of Rapid Response Teams. The nurse will care for patients post-cardiac procedures, including angiograms and surgeries. Experience with IV insulin protocols and managing patients with renal failure is required. Candidates should be skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and care of central lines. Other required skills include: Managing cardiac drips without titration. Administration of procedural sedation. Tracheostomy management and non-invasive airway management. Wound care and isolation precautions. The position also entails regular floating between departments and units as needed. Candidates must hold valid certifications and demonstrate competence in accessing and managing ports, bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP), and administering chemotherapy. The work environment includes adult and geriatric patient populations. The daily census is approximately 31 patients. There are interdisciplinary support services available, including physical therapy and respiratory services.
