Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years of Experience Required License: Current RN License Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 years of specialty experience required - Experience in charge and teaching hospital preferred - First-timers accepted Description: The Registered Nurse in the PCU will provide care to patients in a stepdown surgical unit. Ratios are 1:5. Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required. Weekend shifts require working 8 weekends in a 6-week scheduling period. Skills required include: - Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. - Post-cardiac care, including post MI and pre/post cardiac procedures. - IV therapy and phlebotomy, including managing blood products and central line care. - Administration of medications including heparin protocols and PCA. - Non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy care. - Wound care and isolation precautions. The RN will float between departments and units as needed. Candidates must have a minimum of a year's experience within the past 12 months with no gaps of greater than 90 days. References from the past year are required. Drug screenings are mandatory and results must be clear.
