Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years of recent Progressive Care Unit experience preferred License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Previous charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Description: The unit has 22 beds and an average daily census of 20. The patient population includes adults and geriatric patients. Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, gynecology, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries. Special procedures performed in the unit include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy. Shifts are 12-hour nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other or third weekend shift is required. Floating within the organization is expected. Unit systems include electronic documentation and a medication management system. The unit has interdisciplinary support, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses involve burns, plastic surgery, urology, gynecology surgeries, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries. Additional skills expected include management of central lines and telemetry monitoring, as well as wound care. Candidates must comply with fingerprinting processes. Two professional references are required, with at least one reference from a supervisory role. Education should be from an accredited nursing program.
