Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty and Level 1 Trauma experience required License: Compact or State License required at time of submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required; TNCC and Woundvac preferred Must-Have: Experience in trauma/surgical nursing with emphasis on orthopedic trauma and geriatric trauma. Mobility with durable medical equipment (DME) experience required. Charge nurse and spine/extremity brace experience preferred. Description: Primarily a trauma/surgical unit with emphasis on orthopedic trauma and fragility fracture/geriatric trauma. Candidates should have experience in all surgical subspecialties. This role requires interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Experience with patient care technologies including PCA, wound care, and wound vac management is needed. Responsibilities include wound vac dressing changes, blood product transfusions, and assistance with mobility using devices. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Patient demographics include adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations. The daily patient census averages around 28. Candidates must have prior charge experience and be comfortable managing patient care in a dynamic environment. Floating to nearby affiliate hospitals may be required. Candidates must comply with all mandatory credentialing and competency assessments.
