Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience required License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: - 1:5 Ratio Experience in SD or PCU - Ventilator Experience - Pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment - Must have SD/PCU experience Description: This unit provides professional skilled care to a diverse patient population. The unit currently functions as a mixed acuity High-Risk Respiratory Unit. Patient diagnoses include cerebrovascular accidents, transient ischemic attacks, seizures, and other neurological conditions. Staff will work in either a team nursing or primary nursing model, depending on unit needs. Nurses may also float to the Neuro ICU as required. The target patient ratio is 1:4-6. Travelers are expected to float to other specialty clusters and support the nursing care team. Nurses must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Travelers should be prepared for potential shift cancellations due to low patient census. The unit employs interdisciplinary support including respiratory services and physical therapy. Special procedures include tracheostomy care and management. Additional competencies may include the interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of ventilated patients. The environment emphasizes collaboration between RNs, LPNs, and PCTs to enhance patient care.
