Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours/week; Requires Holiday Rotation Experience: Minimum of 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital or medical center setting required. License: Active Iowa license or compact/multistate license required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS preferred. Must-Have: - Client/neurosurgery care experience required. - Ortho/orthopedic care experience required. - Trauma care experience highly preferred. - EPIC electronic medical record experience required. - Drip experience with Heparin, PCA, 3% Sodium/Na required. - Specialty equipment experience with telemetry, left equipment, chest tubes, airvo preferred. - EKG/Strip reading and telemetry experience required. - De-escalation certificate preferred (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted). - Trauma Level I experience highly preferred. Description: This position involves providing essential nursing care in a progressive care unit. The RN will be responsible for managing patients with heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, and orthopedic issues. The RN will engage with up to six patients at a time, ensuring accurate administration of medications and monitoring of their vital signs. The work environment entails the use of telemetry and specialized equipment for patient care. Candidates will be required to float across various campuses as needed. This role mandates working one to two of the upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed. The RN will need to have a strong background in assessment, critical thinking, and collaboration with healthcare team members. Every candidate must submit recent work history and provide a professional reference within the last 24 months. Strong communication skills and a dedication to patient-centered care are essential for this position.
