Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 18 months required. License: IN state license, compact, or temporary license in hand prior to start. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Solid Neuro experience. Description: This position is for a dynamic mixed acuity unit. The unit cares for medical patients with some progressive care level patients. Specialties include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6 for medical surgical patients and 1:3-4 for progressive care patients. Nurses will manage Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin drips. The role includes caring for unstable strokes and providing BiPAP support. Nurses will demonstrate skills in accessing and managing ports. CPAP and BiPAP management is essential. Administration of blood products is required. Central line care and management will be part of the duties. Interpretation of dysrhythmias is necessary. IV insulin protocols should be understood and followed. Nurses will manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration. Telemetry monitoring experience is needed. Performing pre/post cardiac catheterization care is expected. Starting and maintaining IVs is a fundamental skill for this position. Nurses will need to float within the facility or to nearby partners as required. Floating across unit locations is fully required of all travelers. Basic understanding of chemotherapy management is beneficial. Interdisciplinary support is available in physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, and others. Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and willing to work weekends. Robust clinical knowledge, particularly in neuro care, will be critical for success in this role.
