Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Registered Nurse license required prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BCLS Must-Have: Proficient in cardiac monitoring Description: First time travelers are accepted. Locals are not accepted. If a traveler calls in for a contracted shift, they are expected to make up the day during the pay period if they are at a 0.9 FTE. If a 0.9 FTE is unable to make up during the pay period, the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract. If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend as per their contract. Pending operational needs, consecutive weekends may be required based on unit needs. Unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. The facility is a teaching institution and requires all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow while on assignment. Travelers should have a minimum of 2 years of experience. Proficiency in cardiac monitoring is required. Experience with management of chest tubes, fresh trachs, feeding tube care and management, care of post-operative patients, epidurals, and management of non-titratable cardiac drips is essential. Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips is necessary. Familiarity with external BiPAP/CPAP and total laryngectomy is required. Candidates must be comfortable with performing doppler flap checks. Floating to different levels of care may be required, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU, with resources provided if needed. Refusal to float may result in termination of the contract. Staffing ratios on the unit are 1:3-4. Surgical PCU experience is preferred, particularly with patients undergoing ENT, thoracic, general surgery, and urology procedures. Candidates must be willing to float within the facility or to nearby affiliates as required. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Two supervisor references are required. Candidates should ensure they meet licensing and experience prerequisites.
