Job Title: Med/Tele/PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days EOW, First to Float Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: PCU experience, ability to read strips Description: The department is seeking a Med/Tele/PCU Registered Nurse. Candidates must have experience in a stepdown unit. The unit features 32 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights, with PCU level care overflow at 1:3. Common diagnoses include cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, and ETOH. Additional patient conditions may include Covid Bipap, general surgical cases with heart histories, and acute on chronic medical conditions such as pneumonia, influenza, and sepsis. Tele/cardiac experience is required, along with proficiency in Epic. Candidates must be comfortable with first-time travel assignments. RNs are expected to titrate drips, which may include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine. There is a charge nurse on each shift, and they may take a light patient load. Patient care techs are available on the unit, with a goal of a 1:10 ratio. RNs will troubleshoot respiratory equipment, including Bipap and High Flow devices. The unit is equipped with portable monitors and a telemetry technician. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own cardiac strips. Shifts are scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekends are required every other week, and holidays every other year. All staff must be flexible and may float to various departments. Scrub color is flexible, and any color scrubs are acceptable. Additional notes indicate that it is primarily a tele/cardiac unit. Candidates must adhere to the radius rule and cannot be employed elsewhere within specified networks. Time-off requests must be made upfront, and additional requests will not be accepted after submission.
