Shift Type: Rotating nights, 12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM, every-other-weekend required

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care on a 55-bed PCU/stepdown unit
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, acting quickly on changes in patient status
- Administer and manage drips and infusions (including PCA pumps, Cardizem, insulin) safely and accurately
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members — educators, care managers, social workers, PT/OT and dieticians — to coordinate patient care
- Perform focused assessments and maintain accurate EPIC documentation for continuity of care
- Practice hourly rounding and respond to patient needs to enhance patient experience
- Use mechanical lifts and safe patient-handling techniques to protect patients and staff
- Support unit staffing needs and float as required to ensure consistent, safe care
Education
- Active RN licensure required; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and PCU/stepdown care
- EPIC electronic medical record proficiency
- Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and PCA pump management
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS application in acute settings
- Safe patient handling with mechanical lifts
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent teamwork and communication for a collaborative unit environment
Requirements
- Active RN license (eligible to practice in the state of Nebraska) - driver's license required at submittal
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (PCU/stepdown/telemetry experience preferred)
- Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and managing cardiac/neurologic patient populations (CVA, TIA, respiratory issues, subdural hematoma)
- Ability to pass orientation skills exam (90% required) and adhere to facility fingernail policy
- Willingness to work night shifts and float as needed
