Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred, 2 years preferred License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Cardiovascular experience required Charting system experience required Description: This is a position in a Progressive Care Unit. The unit consists of 55 beds. The patient ratio is 1:4. Weekend work is required as needed. Floating to like units may be expected based on facility needs. Travelers will receive brief orientation on the unit. Candidates must have experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry. Additional skills include central line care, chest tube management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Experience with cardiac drips and PCA management is essential. The patient population primarily includes adults and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 38 patients. Support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Common patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure and cardiovascular-related conditions. Administrative tasks may include monitoring telemetry and wound care. Candidates should have experience in both pre and post cardiac procedures. This position requires strong critical thinking and patient management skills.
