Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit License: Active RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac PCU experience Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 1:5. Previous charge RN experience preferred. Familiarity with EPIC charting system is required. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit. The nurse will provide care for patients with cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure and acute coronary syndrome. Experience in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry is essential. The nurse will play a key role in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, including procedural sedation administration. Candidates should be skilled in the assessment and management of patients pre and post cardiac catheterization. The unit operates 24/7 and consists of 30 private beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are generally 1:5, with some circumstances requiring closer monitoring for patients with drips or bipap. The department features interdisciplinary support, including nurse assistants and unit secretaries. Nurses will be scheduled based on departmental needs using a self-assisted schedule. Weekend rotations and holiday coverage will be necessary as required by the unit. All nurses are required to complete a pass/fail EKG exam prior to employment.
