Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Medical ICU experience in a large facility - Comfortable with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management - Critical thinker - Flexible and works well with others Description: This position is in a 10-bed ICU/PCU overflow unit. Patient ratios are 2:1 for ICU and 4-5:1 for PCU. During the day shift, the unit has 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. The night shift also has 1 Charge RN and 5 Staff RNs. Equipment used includes lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), ventilators, and IV pumps. The documentation system is Cerner. Required shifts are 12 hours, with an expectation of working every other weekend and supporting holidays. There are no on-call requirements. Floating to other units is expected. Patient experience requirements include mandatory bedside shift report in all areas of the facility. A relief charge nurse will be expected to perform nurse leader rounding. Advanced skills needed are ventilator management, critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors, etc.), advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line management. Procedures performed on the unit may include assisting providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations. The dress code requires navy blue or white scrubs. Unit-specific policies and guidelines will be provided. This unit offers opportunities for professional growth. New equipment and technology may be available, enhancing the working environment.
