Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required, previous charge experience preferred. License: Active Nursing License required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Post Cardiac Surgery and Vascular Surgery experience. Description: This unit cares for post-op cardiac and vascular surgery patients. Patients may be 17-24 hours post-operative or fresh post-carotid endarterectomy and similar surgeries. It is a surgical step-down unit for post-cardiovascular surgery patients. Candidates must have strong cardiac telemetry experience. Staffing requires a patient ratio of 4. The average daily census is 18. The population includes patients who have undergone various cardiovascular surgeries such as coronary artery bypass, valve replacements, endovascular and open repairs, and more. Nurses will manage drips, including insulin, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy. All staff may float to other units as needed. This role requires strong critical thinking and assessment skills. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred. Knowledge of telemetry monitoring and management is essential.
