Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: IV start, Vents, Telemetry and CPAP/BiPAP management, Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit may possibly result in cancellation. The unit will accept first-time travelers. Local candidates are accepted. Target patient ratios are 1:4-5, but may go to 1:6 in extreme situations. The unit is a mixed acuity unit with PCU and Med-Surg/Tele patients. 36 hours can be offered. 12-hour night shifts are available. RTO is maximum 7 days for auto-offer. Floating to like units is required. Every other weekend is required. Patient population may include COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, and influenza. The unit handles high acuity medical/surgical patients. A team lead is present with a 3:1 ratio throughout the unit. Two respiratory therapists and an assistant nurse manager are available on shift. Nurses will care for a maximum of one ventilated patient at a time. The unit has 48 beds in total. CNA ratios are approximately 9-10:1. Most patients have comorbidities and require telemetry monitoring. Resources available on the unit include an admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager, vascular access team, Rapid Response Team, code team, and behavioral health team. Special equipment includes chest tubes and drips such as dopamine and heparin. The unit utilizes Pyxis and Epic for charting and medication management.
