Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of medical-surgical experience required, travelers must have step-down/PCU experience as med-surg nurses will float to their PCU unit as needed. License: Must already be licensed in the state. Certifications: BCLS required. Must-Have: Must be comfortable floating frequently; this is a med-surg role that often involves floating to step-down and med-surg/telemetry units. Description: This position requires a nurse to provide care in a 22-bed adult medical-surgical unit. The nurse will float frequently between med-surg and step-down units. Ratios on the step-down unit are 1:4-5 and on the med-surg unit are 1:5-6. Previous charge experience is preferred. The facility will not accept any license or background issues. All candidates must have experience with the following skills: Accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tubes management, continuous bladder irrigation, and care for patients with cerebrovascular accidents. Additional skills include: Feeding tube care, heparin protocols, management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, pacemaker management, and peripheral line care. Candidates should also have experience with telemetry and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. The nurse will be required to work some weekends and holidays as needed. All applicants should be comfortable with high patient care ratios and must be adaptable to floating within the facility. This role involves the care of adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses including wounds, sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, and oncology-related conditions.
