Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: GA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience; travel experience required Description: Minimum experience required is 2 years; first timers not accepted. Patient population includes adults to geriatrics. Telemetry skills and management with interpretation of dysrhythmias are required. Common diagnoses include hypertensive urgency, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, diabetic ketoacidosis/hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state, sepsis, respiratory insufficiency requiring BiPAP, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbation, post-operative care, gastrointestinal bleed, stable stroke, chronic ventilator care, unstable angina, and drug overdose. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 2-4 patients. The average daily census is approximately 4.5 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy support. Floating within the facility may be required. The traveler is expected to work a major holiday if it falls within the assignment period. Compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to start on time.
